Cost of Living

One would think that living in a third world country would be el cheapo territory and that everything would be super inexpensive.  And it might be for some countries, but not Kenya, especially around Nairobi.
For instance, if you want cheddar cheese, you should be willing to pay $10 US for a quality block.  Or slightly cheaper if you don't care if it melts.  Hmm.

Brand new clothes and shoes, like from malls, are just as expensive as American high-end stores.  However, all of those things you donated to Goodwill last year?  They are now in the downtown market being sold.  I went and rifled through clothes and many still had charity tags.  But it was much cheaper!  The only issue is there is no place to try on, and most of the sizes have been ripped out.  It's like a clothing safari!

Thankfully, there is one very important item that is always much cheaper than the US: flowers.  These lilies were about $1.50 on the side of the road.  Whoo-hoo!
